zur deutschen Übersetzung When The Spirit Moves You
I kept seeing Almighty Kur, lying in a pool of hot tar, bubbles bursting under his backside.  His wings were unfurled and I had no idea at first why he was the key image for my story.  I thought about it.  I had told myself to write the story of Lysicles, who’d been executed in life for leading a thousand Athenians to their deaths at the Battle of Chaeronea, while his commander was exonerated of wrongdoing.  Lysicles had a bone to pick.  He was angry.  He was the perfect character to bring before Erra and his peerless Seven, personified weapons of destruction.  So who was this big red guy with the wings and the spiky tail?

Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.
– Mark Twain

Satan was fuming, literally, when I was escorted into his office on the top floor of New Hell’s Hall of Injustice by Marilyn Monroe in a tight red knit dress.  Aside from the devil and his desk, the huge place was empty from corbeled, cobwebby rafters to filthy marble floor.  The whole office reeked of smoke.  Wisps of gray smoke curled upward from his big black leathery wings, his wide maw, and leaked between his glittering fangs.  His yellow eyes burned into whatever soul I have left, and hurt.

zur deutschen Übersetzung We didn’t expect to end up in hell.  But then, no one ever does.  And we’d been in hell before, for many years, conceiving, editing, and writing stories for our legendary Heroes in Hell™ series of shared-world anthologies and novels.

Then Wikipedia created a Heroes in Hell™ (HIH) page and exported it to Facebook.  So now the HIH series has a Facebook page.  We thought, innocently enough, that we’d put a few messages there, since we were writing The Sacred Band of Stepsons series again, to direct fans to the Facebook page for our first novel in twenty years, The Sacred Band.  Little did we know that the Heroes in Hell™ Facebook page is a portal to hell itself.

Into the “international business” - The view over the “rim”

The view over the “rim”

zur deutschen Version Each Bundesliga (national soccer league in Germany) coach is pleased when his team successfully jumps into the so-called “international business” (the qualification for the Champions league or the Euro-League).  Editors of commercial/non-commercial magzines see and handle this differently (usually) as each one revolves mostly around regional sensitivities.

Looking beyond national borders? Rare.

Everybody is talking about “globalization” although not usually magazines.  We are here to change that.  We have entered the international arena.
